WHEN ENGINEERS SEEK PROTOTYPE INJECTION MOLDINGS, THEY USUALLY WANT THE IDENTICAL RESIN THEY WILL USE IN PRODUCTION, MOST RESINS CAN BE INJECTED INTO ALUMINUM OR EPOXY TOOLS, INCLUDING FILLED AND UNFILLED NYLONS, ABS, THERMOPLASTIC URETHANES (TPU'S) AND ELASTOMERS (TPE'S), POLYPROPYLENE, ETC. SOME CUSTOMER ANNUAL PRODUCTION VOLUMES ARE ONLY A FEW THOUSAND PARTS A YEAR OR LESS. IN THESE CASES, THE PROTOTYPE MOLD IS THE PRODUCTION MOLD BECAUSE IT MAY NOT BE ECONOMICAL TO INVEST IN A PRODUCTION STEEL MOLD. WE ARE ABLE TO KEEP THE COSTS LOW AND LEAD TIMES SHORT BY ELIMINATING AUTOMATION FEATURES THAT ARE NORMALLY PUT INTO PRODUCTION INJECTION MOLD TOOLING (I.E. COOLING LINES, AUTOMATIC EJECTION).

OUR SPINCASTING PROCESS (DISCUSSED IN DETAIL IN METAL CASTING SECTION AND THE SPINCASTING PDF FILE) IS ALSO IDEALLY SUITED FOR URETHANE MOLDING BECAUSE THE CENTRIFUGAL FORCE CREATED IN SPINCASTING ELIMINATES THE POTENTIAL FOR VOIDS AND BUBBLES. DEPENDING ON THE RESIN USED, OTHER TECHNIQUES SUCH AS OPEN POURING OR SYRINGE INJECTION INTO RTV TOOLS ARE ALSO USED.
